I just wanted to write a letter to the townspeople of Laglio, because it seems as if I have been caught in the middle
of a political battle, and I need to set some facts straight.
The first fact, is that I think of Laglio as the most
beautiful town in the world. The people, my neighbors, are the best and warmest.
The second fact is that since last
summer I have been meeting with architects and the mayor to find a way to fix up the public beach and make it a nice place
for the townspeople to visit. As you know, now it is a mess.
I have never and would never try to
take the beach away, and the mayor, the architect and the public record will back that statement up.
But the story
got out there and it seems to have stuck, so I think that there is only one way to properly handle this.
Allow me
to prove that I'm worthy of an honorary citizenship. Let me fix up the beach and when it's finished, if you still want me
to be an honorary citizen, it would be a privilege for me to accept it.
Let me earn your respect and your citizenship.
Your neighbor
George
